MEnD was engaged by Broadspectrum to perform a condition assessment on an above ground potable water tank (Tank 4) located in Woomera, SA.

Solution Execution

A team of MEnD’s engineers conducted a series of non-destructive and materials testing to determine the cause and extent of deterioration.

A visual, cover meter and delamination surveys was carried out to identify and quantify the characteristic defects requiring repair. Additionally, detailed invasive materials testing was conducted for carbonation, chloride and compressive strength of tank components. The assessment also involved coordination of diving operations, where internal conditions of the tank were recorded by divers. The results provided insight into the likelihood of future deterioration and the identification of source and cause of leak flagged at the beginning of inspection.

The data captured enabled the formation of a condition report supporting realistic remediation recommendations and budget estimate tailored to client needs.
