Condition Assessment & Remedial Engineering for Marine Infrastructure

Cathodic Protection for Marine Infrastructure
The performance of any CP system requires ongoing monitoring and maintenance to ensure that it is providing protection to the structure.
MEnD has the experience and capability to design, supervise construction and provide the ongoing monitoring for marine CP systems. Our aim is to minimise ongoing operating costs while maintaining reliability through a delivery strategy that combines selected technologies, practical know how, client training, state of the art data management and live reporting.
ROV, UAV, & Robotic Engineering Inspection Services
With our in house engineering capabilities and partners we can deliver a wide range of unmanned NDT inspection services using ROVs, UAVs and Robotic Crawlers. These devices allow the specific skills of our engineers to be delivered into places that typically require more conventional and costly access methods. We can deploy various inspection tools including HD cameras, laser sizing guides and ultrasonic thickness testers. Our engineers and partners have completed inspections on water tanks, industrial process vessels, pipelines, culverts, jetties, and industrial stacks using a range of unmanned inspection techniques.
Industrial Stack Inspections
Industrial stacks often handle acidic and corrosive gasses that can cause apid or gradual degradation of the structure over time. Our engineers have inspected numerous industrial stacks and can provide tailored remedial specifications. We understand stack shut downs are time critical and that the inspection and remedial strategies need to reflect this. For our inspections we can employ a range of access methods including ; UAVs, EWPs, Mast Climbers, Cranes and Rope Access.
Tank & Pipeline Integrity Services
The integrity of storage tanks and pipelines is central to the owners risk management and asset protection strategy. Our team’s tank and pipeline integrity services include:

Containment Bund & Lining Surveys
On mine sites, process plants and storage facilities, secondary containment is required to protect the surrounding environment from contamination by hazardous chemicals. We can provide both visual and NDT containment bund and lining integrity surveys. We also provide remedial and lining specifications, as well as quality control services for works on new and
existing facilities.
Coating Inspection & Specifications
Coatings are one of the most extensively used methods for the protection of construction materials against degradation. The performance of a coating system is directly linked to the quality of its application as well as its inherent material properties. Our engineers have both the technical and practical experience to provide independent coating inspection and specification services.
We can provide coating condition surveys, specifications, quality control documentation and inspection services. Our coating experience is spread across a range of applications including; architectural, industrial, marine,

Preservation of Heritage Structures
Heritage structures are not only grand state buildings, they can also be bridges such as the Anderson Street Bridge in Melbourne. Designed and constructed by Sir John Monash, this bridge (opened in 1899 ) was one of the first examples of reinforced concrete in Australia. While it has been closed to traffic for some years it still spans the Yarra River thanks to a combination of
conventional repair techniques, coatings and a novel soil anode Cathodic Protection system.
Our engineers have conducted condition assessments and developed preservation strategies for numerous heritage structures around the country. We also have the practical experience that can only be gained by the direct involvement in the actual restoration and preservation projects.
